April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, began taking guitar and piano lessons at age seven. Her interest in songwriting was awakened. At the age of 12 April wrote her first song Different. When April was 14 years old, she dedicated long hours making song concepts as well as perfecting the song. She began writing alongside her father at home in NY and LA shortly after. April also began incorporating additional relevant subjects into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle influencer, as well as having partnerships with brands that are clean and healthy like Ilia she has gained an impressive fan base. Her birth was without a left hand and that is part of her story, but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on Instagram, but she does not make it the main focus of her story. What's the message? This is the message: We all have multiple identities and are more complex than we think that we're. Lockhart tells Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define my character. My goal is not to be an influencer on disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." My daily life isn't dependent on it. I lead a normal, everyday life and find myself solutions for problems. This is a major element of my life and it's imperative to discuss it. Self-acceptance is a long marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me on that front. She has been through times when she felt uncomfortable in dressing in certain styles that exposed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she wants. And she posts pictures on social media. The self-love she talks about is a process. It's not clear when you'll reach the point of no return. It's true for all, no matter what their level of insecurity. It's my opinion that having those around you who really are aware of you and know your heart is really important as they'll be the ones that remind you of what are you worried about?
